Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a 100% nonprofit organization committed to ending the homeless pet overpopulation by removing dogs and cats from shelters and other unfortunate situations and having them spayed, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted to their forever families.
We consists of a small group of volunteers who care about the welfare of our homeless pets. We are located in Richardson, Texas and survive solely from donations and fundraiser's (after fundraiser...after fundraiser!). All of our pets live in our homes as we do not have an actual facility. Because they live within the dynamics of the foster families and are exposed to children of all ages and other pets, we find that that our foster cats and dogs are more adoptable as they have already been socialized to live in a family environment.
We have been in existence since April 2008 and have already rescued 270 cats and kittens and 85 dogs from local shelters and other unfortunate situations.
All dogs and cats are spayed and neutered before being adopted. These pets also receive all appropriate vaccinations and are microchipped. In effort to reduce the possibility of the pet being returned, adopters are carefully screened to be sure that the personality of both the pet and adopter are a good match.
Visit "Adoptable Pets" for more information on dogs and cats that are currently available for adoption.
Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax deductible!

Iggy's Fight for Life...ADOPTED!!!
Iggy is our Shih-tzu who we rescued from a local shelter where his owner had left him knowing he was very sick and needed emergency surgery. He had choked on a bone that stayed lodged in his throat for some time. By the time the bone had passed into his stomach so much damage had been done to his esophagus it had constricted to the size of this letter "o" and he could not swallow anything but water. We learned about Iggy and sent out an email asking for help and an anonymous donor has stepped up to help us cover Iggy's stomach surgery to remove the bone and his follow up procedures where a deflated balloon is placed in the esophagus and then inflated causing the scar tissue to expand.
Iggy is now doing great and has experienced a full recovery. He has been adopted by his foster family! Way to Go Iggy!
(Friday, the kitten pictured with Iggy has also been adopted!).
Mom and Pups Rescued From Trailer Park Doing Great!
Between Christmas Day and New Years Day we took in 7 bottle babies. This is huge if you know anything about feeding puppies by bottle. Not only is it exhausting, stinky and messy, it is expensive! The pups were abandoned in a field in Richardson and brought to the shelter. We were called in to the rescue and soon had 7 beautiful babies to care for over the holiday. These pups must be feed every 4-5 hours, rain or shine, night or day! It was determined that the babies were only about 10 days old since their eyes were just starting to open. They are mix between Shepherd, Collie and Yellow Lab so they will be medium to large dogs.
They are now 10 weeks old and READY FOR ADOPTION!-Three have already been adopted so dont hesitate to call, they wont last long!
(If you are interested in one of these gorgeous puppies, please email us at info@takemehomepetrescue.com to request an application.)
WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS!
Just like always, we are taking in more and more dogs from local shelters and other unfortunate situations. Today I want you to meet Manchas. She is a female great dane, age three years old, who is positive for heart worm. We picked her up from a family who was moving and could not take her along. Manchas is Spanish for "spot". We were told that Manchas was house trained and up to date on her heart guard. However, we learned that she was not house trained AND she was Heart Worm Positive. Manchas had not been spayed either.
We have a lot of work ahead of us as this poor dog is afraid she will be left behind which is creating some separation anxiety issues. We believe she was left outside to fend for herself for a long time and had never been taught positive social behavior. She has come a long way but we have a long way to go. She is spayed and will be receiving her heart worm treatment soon.
...but all of this takes money so I am throwing it out there once again, please give if you can to help us pay for Mancha's heart worm treatment. She is a deserving dog and is really trying hard to be a good girl. With such a large animal who has never been trained, we have a long way to go. Please go to paypal on the Ways to Help Page and donate. Any amount will be wonderful as it all adds up in the end. Our goal is $800 which will help cover her spay, vaccinations, microchip and heart worm treatment.
This was a wonderful story of people working together for the love of the animals. A Guardian Angel saved pregnant dog after she was abandoned and tied to a pole in a trailer park. Momma and puppies are safe and sound and everyone has been adopted including Emma!
Thank you for your concern and support during this exciting rescue!
