Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a 100% nonprofit organization committed to ending the homeless pet overpopulation by removing dogs and cats from shelters and other unfortunate situations and having them spayed, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted to their forever families.
We consists of a small group of volunteers who care about the welfare of our homeless pets. We are located in Richardson, Texas and survive solely from donations and fundraiser's (after fundraiser...after fundraiser!). All of our pets live in our homes as we do not have an actual facility. Because they live within the dynamics of the foster families and are exposed to children of all ages and other pets, we find that that our foster cats and dogs are more adoptable as they have already been socialized to live in a family environment.
We have been in existence since April 2008 and have already rescued 235 cats and kittens and 65 dogs from local shelters and other unfortunate situations.
All dogs and cats are spayed and neutered before being adopted. These pets also receive all appropriate vaccinations and are microchipped. In effort to reduce the possibility of the pet being returned, adopters are carefully screened to be sure that the personality of both the pet and adopter are a good match.
Visit "Adoptable Pets" for more information on dogs and cats that are currently available for adoption.
Take Me Home Pet Rescue is a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax deductible!

Iggy's Fight for Life...ADOPTED!!!
Iggy is our Shih-tzu who we rescued from a local shelter where his owner had left him knowing he was very sick and needed emergency surgery. He had choked on a bone that stayed lodged in his throat for some time. By the time the bone had passed into his stomach so much damage had been done to his esophagus it had constricted to the size of this letter "o" and he could not swallow anything but water. We learned about Iggy and sent out an email asking for help and an anonymous donor has stepped up to help us cover Iggy's stomach surgery to remove the bone and his follow up procedures where a deflated balloon is placed in the esophagus and then inflated causing the scar tissue to expand.
Iggy is now doing great and has experienced a full recovery. He has been adopted by his foster family! Way to Go Iggy!
(Friday, the kitten pictured with Iggy has also been adopted!).
Mom and Pups Rescued From Trailer Park Doing Great!
Between Christmas Day and New Years Day we took in 7 bottle babies. This is huge if you know anything about feeding puppies by bottle. Not only is it exhausting, stinky and messy, it is expensive! The pups were abandoned in a field in Richardson and brought to the shelter. We were called in to the rescue and soon had 7 beautiful babies to care for over the holiday. These pups must be feed every 4-5 hours, rain or shine, night or day! It was determined that the babies were only about 10 days old since their eyes were just starting to open. They are probably a mix between a shepherd and something else...since they have grown we are thinking possibly yellow lab....
They are now six weeks old! My how time flies!!!
WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS!
Feeding these puppies has been expensive! At first they drank about on can of puppy formula a day between the seven of them. That is a cost of about $15.00/day for a grand total of $210.00! Many of you helped offset this expense, we are grateful.
Now the pups are almost 6 weeks old, have been eating puppy food for a while and are ready to start their puppy vaccinations andworming. Soon will be ready for spay and neuter! Your donations are still needed. By the time it is said and done, each puppy will have cost our rescue group about $300.00 or more! Our adoption fee is only $200.00 so you can see we have a a big difference to try and fill with donations.
Please consider adopting a virtual puppy. If you would like to adopt a virtual puppy, we will send you a photo of a boy or girl, your choice! Please help by going to the Donations button under the page Ways to Help and making a very much needed donation. The Donation button will take you right to paypal.
This was a wonderful story of people working together for the love of the animals. A Guardian Angel saved pregnant dog after she was abandoned and tied to a pole in a trailer park. Momma and puppies are safe and sound and all the puppies have been adopted!
Emma, the momma dog, however, is still in need of a loving forever home. Please go to the adoptable dog page to read more about Emma.
Thank you for your concern and support during this exciting rescue!
The bottle babies are gearing up for adoption.
If you are interested in meeting these little boys and girls they will be in Richardson off the NW corner of Renner and Custer this Saturday, February 6th, from 9:30AM-1PM.
